With a team of multi-disciplined professionals, we guide and support our clients throughout every aspect, from initial planning, permitting, and review right through to interior design, maintenance, and later renovations.
The cultured, signature style of our President/CEO Michael Davis, a native of England, is highly recognizable throughout the East End, most notably in the English country, shingle-style homes with modern interior features that dot the oceanside lanes of Sagaponack. Over 35 years and more than 125 custom homes, we have built a legacy in the Hamptons defined by enduring style, craftsmanship, and the relationships we have built along the way.
Today Michael Davis Design & Construction operates across six integrated service lines: Design-Build, General Contracting, Renovations, Interior Design, Service & Maintenance, and Estate Management. A client can engage MDC from the first sketch of a new home through decades of ongoing property care, all with the same team, the same standards, and the same accountability.

Michael Davis
FOUNDER & PRESIDENT
Michael founded Michael Davis Design & Construction in the late 1980s with a clear understanding of what families building on the East End needed. He recognized early that the best homes are designed around how people live: how multiple generations share a space, where a family naturally gathers, and where they want privacy. He built the first Michael Davis Design & Construction home in Sagaponack around those principles, and that instinct has guided the firm for 35 years.
He remains involved at every stage of a project, bringing an accumulated knowledge of the East End’s landscape, regulations, and design community that only 35 years of focused work in a single market can produce.
Paul Travaglia
Chief Operating Officer
Paul joined Michael Davis Design & Construction as COO, bringing operational discipline to a firm already known for the quality of its output. He oversees the day-to-day execution of every active project, coordinating across design, construction, and client management to ensure that Michael Davis Design & Construction’s standard holds from planning through delivery.
His focus is on the mechanics that make complex projects run well: tighter team coordination, precise scheduling, structured client communication, and clear budget stewardship. Under Paul’s leadership, Michael Davis Design & Construction’s operations have been formalized in a way that matches the caliber of the work the firm produces.
Juan Fajardo
DIRECTOR OF FIELD OPERATIONS
Juan Fajardo began with MDC more than 22 years ago as a carpenter and, through talent, commitment, and an extraordinary work ethic, has become an integral member of the firm’s leadership team. Today he oversees all field operations, managing on-site execution and crew coordination across every active project. Working closely alongside Michael Davis over two decades, he absorbed and helped implement the architectural and design principles that emerged from MDC’s collaborations with some of the industry’s most respected architects, interior designers, and landscape architects.
Ralph Hafemeister
SERVICE MANAGER
Ralph has been with Michael Davis Design & Construction for nearly 27 years, leading the team responsible for ongoing care and maintenance of client properties. He knows these homes, their construction details, their systems, their histories, as well as the teams that built them.
Ralph’s tenure with the firm is the foundation of Michael Davis Design & Construction’s Service & Maintenance operation. Ralph and his team are the reason why more than half the homes Michael Davis Design & Construction has built remain under active care long after construction completion.

Amy Werfel
INTERIOR DESIGNER
Amy leads Michael Davis Design & Construction’s in-house interior design practice. Her background is in set design, which means she approaches spaces as functional environments first, with aesthetics as the result of getting that right.
Because Amy is embedded within the design-build team, she’s involved from the earliest stages of every project. Structural decisions and interior decisions are made together, which produces a level of coherence that’s difficult to achieve when design and construction are handled separately. Her long-standing supplier relationships give Michael Davis Design & Construction access to quality and lead times not available on the open market. Amy also works with clients who have their own designer and assists with coordination throughout the process.
