Michael Davis Design & Construction’s design-build service exists specifically to serve clients with a desire to build a fully custom home from the ground up.

We work with primary homeowners, families, and multi-generational households building legacy estates across the Hamptons and the broader East End. Projects range from ground-up custom homes on raw land to full compound developments with multiple residences on a single property.

Discovery and Visioning

We learn how you live: how you entertain, how your family moves through space across seasons, where generations gather and where each person needs their own space.

Design Development

Our in-house team works from the inside out, determining how each space will function and feel before addressing the exterior. Our interior design team is involved from day one so aesthetic and structural decisions are made together. We collaborate with your preferred architect or connect you with trusted partners from our East End network.

3.

Pre-Construction and Budget

Before breaking ground, we develop a comprehensive plan: detailed budgeting, scheduling, permitting strategy, and site logistics. We understand the regulatory environment of every township we work in. Expectations are set clearly here and held throughout.

4.

Construction

Our design and construction teams operate as one, so the build phase is a continuation of the same process. Our Director of Field Operations leads a workforce with decades of collective experience building custom homes in the Hamptons. Sites are run with precision, professionalism, and respect for surrounding properties.

5.

Finishing and Turnover

Every surface, system, and material is reviewed against the original vision before we consider a home complete.

Ongoing Care

Our service department and Estate Management division keep your home performing year-round. Since the inception of our service department, 90% of the houses we have built have remained under our active care.

Most Michael Davis Design & Construction projects run 18 months from design through completion, depending on scale, design complexity, and township permitting. We develop a detailed schedule during pre-construction and update it throughout. Our goal is a realistic picture at the outset, not an optimistic one that shifts later.

Every home is unique and its budget is developed specifically during pre-construction. We provide comprehensive estimates. Our depth of experience means we ask the right questions early, which protects the budget from surprises.

Absolutely. We have long-standing relationships with many of the East End’s most respected firms and work seamlessly alongside outside architects. We can also connect you with trusted architects from our network if you’re still assembling your team.

We manage the full process: local building departments, zoning boards, environmental agencies. Thirty-five years in this market means we know the timelines, the requirements, and the right relationships. All of it is factored into the schedule from day one.

Everything from traditional shingle-style and English country to modern farmhouse, coastal contemporary, and transitional. We don’t have a signature aesthetic we repeat. Our signature is the quality and custom nature of the work itself.

Yes. Our in-house interior design team works with clients across the full scope, from space planning through furniture installation. Clients with their own designer are welcome to work with them; our team’s role can be shaped to complement that relationship.
